Welded Tie Bar

(Adjustment Bolt)

Tie bars are used for adjusting the vee belt tension before finally tightening the motor to the frame

TENSIONING THE VEE BELTS (HORIZONTAL FRAME)
Place the vee belt on the vacuum pump and electric motor pulleys and slowly tighten the tie bars equally. This will increase the distance between the two pulleys, thus tensioning the vee belt.

CHANGING VEE BELTS (HORIZONTAL FRAME PUMPS)
Loosen the two tie bars equally so that the electric motor is moved closer to the vacuum pump. The old vee belts will become sufficiently slack to remove. Place the new vee belts over the two pulleys. Tighten the tie bars equally to tension the vee belts on the pulleys. The alignment of the two pulleys must be checked before the position of the electric motor is finalised. Once the vee
belts are correctly tensioned with approximately 6.5mm play at the mid point between the two pulleys, and when the two pulleys are correctly aligned, the motor can be tightened to the frame. Replace the front guard.
